Evolution Planner is a complete tool for strategic waste collection planning. The software can be used as a module in Evolution Office, or as a stand-alone program with container registry import tools and route export tools that allow you to transfer this data and load it in another system.

Evolution Planner is based on our proprietary optimisation engine, which was designed specifically for waste collection. A vast number of containers can be optimised in the same process, dividing them across balanced collection days and optimised routes.

The optimisation supports a wide range of parameters, factors and priorities essential for waste collection.

Evolution Planner features:

“Workbench” for step-by-step planning for selection, positions, workdays, routes and review

“Eagle-eye” for presentation of areas, containers, workdays and routes with KPIs

A large number of parameters, conditions, factors and priorities for optimisation

Parameters can be based on templates and historical data

Embedded logic for vehicle types, container types and road classes

Alert logic

Clustering, VRP and TSP optimisation to suggest optimised routes

Optimise and balance with KPIs and map support

Save and compare different plans before deployment

Conditions, factors and priorities are used as a basis for computer-assisted planning and optimisation.

Condition examples:

  • Speed limits
  • Road classes and environmental zones
  • Vehicle types and container types
  • Collection sequences and any fixed collection days
  • Time windows based on container level or pick-up point

Examples of factors:

  • Working hours, breaks and shifts
  • Vehicle characteristics and staffing
  • Cost per hour and kilometre
  • Collection time by container type
  • Tow path time by container type
  • Historical waste weights and standard weights
  • Side of road
  • Unloading centres and time required
  • Refuelling/charging
  • Depots/garages

Examples of priorities:

  • Time
  • Distance
  • Cost
  • Centre vs. tip

The optimisation engine uses clustering, VRP, and TSP algorithms to calculate the balancing and optimisation of collection days or routes, as well as to optimise the order of priority.
